Yoga Workshops with Peter Roussel
Introducing a yoga workshop by dedicated Yogi and friend Peter Roussel who will be visiting us this summer. Originally from South Manchester, Peter spends most of the year in India and teaching yoga in different countries, including Japan and Europe. He will be sharing his deep knowledge of asana (yoga postures) in this workshop that is suitable to all levels. Visit his website Byoga.
Sunday 10th of August from 10.30 to 17.00 ( break between 13.30 to 14.30).
Step by Step: Developing leg function with asana from 10.30 to 13.30.
Improve strength and alignment of the legs. Develop ‘habits’ in the leg function that support joints and bring lightness to the body.
This workshop will focus on joint actions and the muscles that stabilise them to begin to build a improved walking pattern. Looking specifically at ankle and knee action to protect joints (like our precious knees that help us navigate this life). We also work with actions of the legs that are supportive to the upper body. Functional habits from the feet up can even effect neck issues and eye sight! Includes slow start and breath work.
Lighten the Load: Improved muscle function and freedom in upper body from 14.30 to 17.00.
Shoulders can accumulate tension associated to mental stress as well as physical disfunction. In this workshop we will take a closer look at the way the shoulders function to discover ways to make them powerful and free.
Building upper body strength and functional muscle patterns keep tension away from the neck. Residual neck tension lowers ‘brain power’ and feeling of energy. If you feel a bit low this workshop is likely to lighten the load!
Special offer for both Workshops: £45
Morning Workshop only: £30
Afternoon Workshop only: £25
About Peter:
Peter draws on Iyengar yoga and ‘Scaravelli inspired’ practice to present techniques and ideas to create safe practice. He gives specific directions to explore but also directs your attention to the reactions in the body so you can find what works in your circumstance.
Learning to feel the response to what happens as you apply techniques in the practice, you develop power for self determination.
Detailed instruction and challenges will be included in this workshop but it is strictly non-competitive and open to all levels.
