SUMMARY:Yoga and Organ Meridians: a Workshop with Paula Charnley.
DESCRIPTION:Saturday 12th of March 2016\, 14:00-16:30 – £20\nIn this workshop we will explore yoga postures from the perspective of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM)\, particularly the 5 elements theory. All phenomenon of the universe can be described within the 5 elements: Water\, Wood\, Fire\, Earth and Metal including our physical body\, emotions and the effect of the changing seasons. As we instinctively strive to stay in balance\, internal or external circumstances can throw us off balance. \nThis interactive workshop offers a broader perspective to your yoga practice & general well being. By understanding the effect for example that grief\, anger or anxiety has on our physical body we may be able to direct more compassion there during our yoga practice encouraging the flow of qi (chi) or prana in order to restore balance. \nWe will explore some useful acupressure points with self massage and playfully create some additional postures along the way \nThis workshop is open to all levels of practitioner\, from beginners to advanced. \nMore about Paula:\nPaula Charnley was born in the Derbyshire Peak District. She has just returned to England after living for 30 years in Amsterdam. \nShe studied Shiatsu & Chinese Medicine in the Netherlands & has just completed 3 years of Movement Shiatsu study with Bill Palmer www.seed.org.\nShe offers Shiatsu Treatments in our Therapy Room at Pure Yoga.\n \nPaula is also a passionate yogini and qualified as a Kripalu Yoga teacher in 2004 www.kripalu.org “yoga has supported me for almost 20 years on the roller coaster of life” \nA Psychology graduate\, Paula has also studied Focusing\, Non Violent Communication\, Ayurveda\, Chi Nei Tsang and worked with teachers in the sphere of Self development Worldwide. \n“In my first lesson of Traditional Chinese Medicine I was totally captivated\, for me it was a logical yet flexible way to explain the interconnectedness of the universe. Shiatsu and yoga are both pathways to connect to our essence and I love to mesh them together in a workshop or one on one Shiatsu session”
