SUMMARY:Gong Bath Meditation Summer 2021
DESCRIPTION:Gong Bath Meditation is a practice that aids healing by synchronising our brain and restoring balance & harmony in our human system.\nPlease arrive a few minutes earlier to settle as we will start on time\, door locks at 5.30 pm sharp.\nBookings only via our Timetable on the “Book Now” page. Cost £15\, non refundable and on transferable  \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n No\,  water is not involved in a Gong Bath Meditation. \n\n\n\nInstead\, you are bathed in the sounds and vibrations of gongs\, & crystal bowls. It is a sound bath that creates profound relaxation. \n\n\n\nGong Bath Meditations alter brain wave patterns from the Beta (waking state) to Theta & Delta (meditative) states. Science teaches that meditative brain frequencies enable us to access our deeper subconscious and superconscious\, which are key states for healing. \n\n\n\nSound healing is not a new fad. The gong is one of the oldest musical instruments in the world. Based on ancient wisdom\, gongs vibrate at the same frequency as the body allowing the body to heal itself. \n\n\n\nThese ideas might sound kind of “woo-woo”\, but Sound Energy Healing is a physical phenomenon based on universal physical and biological principles called Sonic entrainment\, where rhythmic vibrations of similar frequencies resonate in unison. \n\n\n\nThe universal principles of sound mean you do not have to believe in Sound Energy Healing or understand it\, to benefit from sessions. However\, you might be like many people\, and want to know what proof exists for energy healing. \n\n\n\nOkay\, here comes a little Science lesson. \n\n\n\nThe sounds during a gong bath can be used to rebalance our human system. There is a profound effect on our cardiovascular\, autonomic\, endocrine and immune systems. It is an excellent therapy for stress-related issues\, such as depression and anxiety. \n\n\n\nWhat to expect in a group Gong Bath session: \n\n\n\nIdeally you will experience the gong bath lying comfortably on your back. You will need to bring along a blanket and a pillow. \n\n\n\nAll you have to do is lie comfortably and close your eyes and relax. I then begin by playing the gongs very softly\, increasing the volume as the session progresses (the volume never gets unbearable as I am playing therapeutically). I change the playing technique frequently so there is no fixed rhythm which results in the brain not being able to follow and entrainment takes place. Entrainment is the changing of brainwave frequencies. \n\n\n\nAfter a continuous 40 minutes of gong playing\, I start to wind down and play very gently for five minutes fading away to nothing. I then spend a little time talking you back to awareness. \n\n\n\nThe gong is an amazing and powerful instrument for healing work; I recommend that you take it easy for the rest of the day to allow the treatment to continue to do its work. I also advise that you drink plenty of water. \n\n\n\nSetting the intention or creative visualisationDifference between stress and relaxation short set of exercises to help you relax readySound bath with gongsGentle return to full awareness \n\n\n\nOut of respect to all participants and due to the sensitive nature of the work\, DOORS CLOSE once a sessions has started there will be no admission:\n\n\n\nIf you would like to reserve a place\, please purchase your ticket early. Gong bath sessions are very popular. We would like to fit everybody in but tickets will be limited to space so we ensure that everybody has enough space to be comfortable and also so that everybody can be looked after.\n\n\n\nA few things to bring with you: \n\n\n\n• A yoga mat to lie on\, a pillow for your head and a blanket as some people might get a bit chilly during the session (we do provide them but feel free to bring your own cosy blanket). We try and make the room as warm as possible for you\, but if you feel the cold please make sure you wear plenty of layers and thick socks. \n\n\n\n• Please try to be on time so we hope you can be there for the whole session and share this experience together. \n\n\n\n• Please bring with you….your honesty\, your compassion\, your courage and your fears\, your dreams and your doubts\, your joy and your tears\, your sense of humour\, your voice if you want\, and your unique self. \n\n\n\nBank transfer welcome!\n\n\n\nBank details:\n\n\n\nPure Yoga Cheshire\n\n\n\nCo-operative Bank\n\n\n\nSort Code 089299\n\n\n\nAccount number 69775596

SUMMARY:*Postponed* Kirtan with Tim Chalice
DESCRIPTION:We are postponing this event due to the current situation. Please stay in touch for future dates.\n\n\n\nTim returns to Macclesfield\, accompanied by Damien Mahoney on percussions\, for a beautiful evening of devotional chants. \n\n\n\nBy repeating simple mantras Kirtan is an effortless and very accessible way to experience some freedom from the endless chatter of the mind\, revealing a graceful state of being and inner peace. \n\n\n\nThe moment we begin to chant there is a feeling of letting go\, a deepening of the breath and a sense of coming home. We can let go of the doership and simply be in the present. As we immerse ourselves in these repetitive sounds our thoughts begin to recede and when the chants end\, we can bathe in the silence that remains. It is a beautiful\, simple practice. Feelings of fear\, anger and separation are gently transformed into feelings of love\, compassion and Oneness. \n\n\n\nKirtan is for everyone. No prior experience of chanting is necessary to gain the many benefits it has to offer\, simply an openness to what may occur. Whether you wish to still your mind\, awaken your heart\, de-stress or simply enjoy singing with others kirtan is for you!\n\nTim is a regular at UK Bhakti Festivals and yoga gatherings and in 2012 released kirtan CD\, Devotional Heart\, produced by Tabla Tom. The follow-up ‘Give It All Away For Love’ was released in 2016. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n \n“Tim is a dedicated pilgrim of prayerful chant and song. His devotional heart sound and meditative mantras\, penetrate your mind\, inspire participation\, and awaken your heart.” – Chloe Goodchild – Singer\, Author “The Naked Voice”.\n \n \n“Tim Chalice is a chanter for the people. His heartfelt tones inspire an immediate sense of coming together and an earthy spirit. Tim is highly original in his approach and you just want to join in at once as he wholeheartedly draws you in to the chant!” – Nikki Slade\, Free the Inner Voice\n \n\n \n\n\n\nFor more information about Tim visit  http://www.timchalice.com/ . \n\n\n\nHis CDs Give It All Away For Love\, Devotional Heart & Planting Peace will be available to buy. \n\n\n\nAdvance payment accepted via cash\, cheque or bank transfer: \n\n\n\nPure Yoga Cheshire\, Sort Code 089299 – Account number 69775596. \n\n\n\nPlease confirm your attendance and payment with an email.

SUMMARY:Pure Yoga Studio in Macclesfield is closed for the time being.
DESCRIPTION:We had the best intention to carry on our classes and stay open at the yoga studio in Macclesfied for as long as we could\, but the time has come and we have to shut our doors – only temporarily of course\, business will resume as soon as the situation returns to normality. \n\n\n\nOur honest experience of teaching classes recently was that when anyone sniffed or coughed (which is perfectly usual under normal circumstances)\, it created a tense atmosphere. Some people even feeling the need to justify why they were coughing. We stayed open not out of financial gain\, but to provide a tranquil space. When the environment in which we teach yoga isn’t calm and relaxed then it ‘s not an ideal platform from which to share and practice yoga. \n\n\n\nSo it is with a heavy heart we are writing this to say Pure Yoga Cheshire will be closed for the foreseeable future in it’s present form. However\, Myself (Andrew) and Francesca have got 9 years experience of teaching online yoga and so we look forwards to sharing what we do on line in the form of classes and private one to one sessions. \n\n\n\nWe never set up Pure Yoga as a business minded venture\, it was born out of our love for yoga (and the love Fran and I share for each other!). Stay safe and well\, all things are transient and will pass\, including all of this today. See you online and back at the studio in (hopefully) the not too far future.Love to you all. \n\n\n\nAndrew and Francesca x

SUMMARY:Gong Bath Meditation 16th of February 2020 *Fully Booked*
DESCRIPTION:NEXT AVAILABLE DATES: Sunday 1st and 15th of March 2020\nPlease arrive a few minutes earlier to settle as we will start on time\, door locks at 5.30 pm sharp.\nCost £12 – Student rate £10 – Full payment required to secure your booking. Contact Pure Yoga: email info@pureyogacheshire.co.uk\, phone 07909 144 414\nUpcoming dates: \nMarch 1st\, March 15th\, April 5th\, May 3rd\, June 7th\, Jul 5th\, Aug 2nd\, Sept 6th\, Oct 4th\, Nov 1st\, Dec 6th. \nGong Bath Meditation is a practice that aids healing by synchronising our brain and restoring balance & harmony in our human system. \n No\,  water is not involved in a Gong Bath Meditation. \nInstead\, you are bathed in the sounds and vibrations of gongs\, & crystal bowls. It is a sound bath that creates profound relaxation. \nGong Bath Meditations alter brain wave patterns from the Beta (waking state) to Theta & Delta (meditative) states. Science teaches that meditative brain frequencies enable us to access our deeper subconscious and superconscious\, which are key states for healing. \nSound healing is not a new fad. The gong is one of the oldest musical instruments in the world. Based on ancient wisdom\, gongs vibrate at the same frequency as the body allowing the body to heal itself. \nThese ideas might sound kind of “woo-woo”\, but Sound Energy Healing is a physical phenomenon based on universal physical and biological principles called Sonic entrainment\, where rhythmic vibrations of similar frequencies resonate in unison. \nThe universal principles of sound mean you do not have to believe in Sound Energy Healing or understand it\, to benefit from sessions. However\, you might be like many people\, and want to know what proof exists for energy healing. \n\n\n \n\n\n\n\nOkay\, here comes a little Science lesson. \nThe sounds during a gong bath can be used to rebalance our human system. There is a profound effect on our cardiovascular\, autonomic\, endocrine and immune systems. It is an excellent therapy for stress-related issues\, such as depression and anxiety. \n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n\nWhat to expect in a group Gong Bath session: \nIdeally you will experience the gong bath lying comfortably on your back. You will need to bring along a blanket and a pillow. \nAll you have to do is lie comfortably and close your eyes and relax. \nAfter a continuous 40 minutes of gong playing\, I start to wind down and play very gently for five minutes fading away to nothing. I then spend a little time talking you back to awareness. \nThe gong is an amazing and powerful instrument for healing work; I recommend that you take it easy for the rest of the day to allow the treatment to continue to do its work. I also advise that you drink plenty of water. \n\n\n\nSetting the intention or creative visualisation\nDifference between stress and relaxation short set of exercises to help you relax ready\nSound bath with gongs\nGentle return to full awareness \n \n\n\n\nOut of respect to all participants and due to the sensitive nature of the work\, DOORS CLOSE once a sessions has started there will be no admission:\nIf you would like to reserve a place\, please purchase your ticket early. Gong bath sessions are very popular. We would like to fit everybody in but tickets will be limited to space so we ensure that everybody has enough space to be comfortable and also so that everybody can be looked after.\n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n\nA few things to bring with you: \n• A yoga mat to lie on\, a pillow for your head and a blanket as some people might get a bit chilly during the session (we do provide them but feel free to bring your own cosy blanket). We try and make the room as warm as possible for you\, but if you feel the cold please make sure you wear plenty of layers and thick socks. \n• Please try to be on time so we hope you can be there for the whole session and share this experience together. \n• Please bring with you….your honesty\, your compassion\, your courage and your fears\, your dreams and your doubts\, your joy and your tears\, your sense of humour\, your voice if you want\, and your unique self. \n\n\n\nBank transfer welcome!\nBank details: \n\nPure Yoga Cheshire\nCo-operative Bank\nSort Code 089299\nAccount number 69775596

SUMMARY:*Past Event* New Year Gong Bath and Yin Yoga*
DESCRIPTION:Sunday 19th of January 2020 from 5 to to 6.30 pm – £20\nTaking bookings for the next Sound Bath and Yin Yoga on Sunday 19th January. Booking is only secured with advance payment as spaces are limited for this popular event.\nRecharge and replenish your Self at this busy time of the year with a nourishing practice of Yin yoga and sound with Francesca and Jane. \nYou will be guided through gentle and deep postures which will unlock deep tensions held within the physical\, mental and spiritual body. You can also be supported by props like yoga bolsters\, blankets\, blocks while receiving the healing effects of sound through planetary gongs. \nA gong bath is a form of sound therapy where the gong is played in a therapeutic way to bring about healing in the body. It is a very effective way of stimulating the natural good feeling of the body and most often leaves the recipient grounded with an indisputable sense of well-being.\nThe experience is often likened to ‘being massaged all over’ by those who are sensitive as they feel their skin tingle and deeper sensations as the waves of sound vibrate through the body and trigger a tangible release of tensions. Often during a gong bath\, a deep sense of neutrality is felt and nerve rejuvenation is achieved. \nThe practice of Yin yoga will calm your body and mind and help you receive fully the benefits of the final 30 minutes sound bath\, leading to experience feelings of peace and calm. All levels are welcome\, this is a gentle and quite deep yoga practice. \nOur beautiful room at Pure Yoga will be candle lit… the small flames will give a warm glow to the space and will add to the special calming quality of this exceptional experience. \nWe do supply mats and some blankets\, but please bring anything you might want to have to make your experience even more relaxing\, like an extra blanket and a pillow. \nPlease pay in advance via bank transfer: Pure Yoga Cheshire – Sort Code 089299 – Account number 69775596 \nMore information and bookings: info@pureyogacheshire.co.uk – phone 07909144414

Donation £5\nJoin Andrew and Francesca for a practice of Hatha Yoga incorporating Asana (yoga postures)\, Yoga Flow\, Pranayama and Meditation. \nA simple practice to delight\, challenge and reveal… \nIncluding standing\, chest opening\, sitting and perhaps some inverted poses\, gradually working on the correct body alignment and mind attitude to include these intense postures. \nFor those just starting on their yoga journey there will be plenty of postures to work with\, including gentle yoga flows\, traditional pranayama and stillness. \nAbout Andrew:\nI’m a British Wheel of Yoga trained Teacher with influences from classical and more contemporary Hatha Yoga traditions. I share my practice as a fusion of breath coordinated movements and classical postures which promote strength\, flexibility and balance\, culminating in a practice adaptable to all. \nHaving a background based in biology and an interest in different philosophical systems I discovered the benefits of Yogic practice in my late 20’s. As a life-long asthmatic I turned to the yogic breathing techniques when my doctor prescribed stronger medication for the condition. Instead of increasing the medication I am now almost totally free from the symptoms and medication. \nSince the late 90’s I have maintained a daily practice which has had a profoundly positive effect upon my physical and mental well-being. I am continuing to develop my practice and understanding of the principles and philosophy of yoga by exploring different approaches and attending retreats lead by international teacher Clive Sheridan. \nMy inquiry has drawn me to the traditions of Tantra and Advaita Vedanta. I’ve been travelling to remote sacred locations in the West Bengal area\, diving deeply into the sacred roots of Yoga. \nI have taught and led retreats in Europe\, Middle East and India. My wish is to pass on my experience and understanding of yoga instructively\, yet also with delight and passion.\nI teach regularly on the leading European Yoga website Ekhart Yoga. \nI am married to yogini Francesca\, and we enjoy sharing our passion for yoga at our studio Pure Yoga Cheshire in Macclesfield and leading Workshops in the Uk\, Ireland and Europe \nAbout Francesca:\nI was born in Italy and I have lived in different countries since my early twenties – from England to Egypt and Spain\, to Australia and Ireland. I moved to Macclesfield in 2012 after meeting my now husband Andrew on our teacher’s yoga retreat in India. \nI initially trained as a yoga teacher in 2004 at the Yoga Arts School in Byron Bay\, Australia\, after practising  Ashtanga yoga for several years. The wealth of the teachers’ wisdom opened a door to philosophical investigation and practices such as pranayama and meditation\, which I incorporates into my practice and teaching. \nI completed my second teacher training in Ireland in 2007 with David Curtis from Dublin\, who is a direct student of Maty Ezraty and Chuck Miller. I was also drawn to the Iyengar Yoga method\, and I studied with Sarah Powers deepening my practice of Yin yoga. \nVery early in my yoga journey I became interested in the transformative aspects of Pranayama and Meditation. My passion for my own yoga journey allows me to integrate my experiences in my own practice before sharing it with my students; I firmly believe in self practice – including daily meditation\, Pranayama (breathing techniques) and Asana (yoga postures). \nI spend time with my teacher Clive Sheridan attending his 3 week retreat in India\, as well as shorter retreats with him in Europe. \nI am one of the original teachers with the Ekhart Yoga Team since they first established themselves in 2012\, and I deliver full online classes. Watch some of my short videos here. \n

SUMMARY:PAST EVENT - Jivamukti Yoga Workshop with Andrea Everingham
DESCRIPTION:Sunday 11th August 2019\, 1-4pm\nJivamukti Yoga Workshop and Masterclass on the 5 Tenants of Jivamukti Yoga\nIncluding 2 hour practice on Manipura Chakra\n\nJivamukti Yoga is a rigorous practice incorporating 14 points of asana \, Dharma Talk\, music and mantra.\nAs a path to enlightenment through compassion for all beings\, Jivamukti Yoga is grounded in the original meaning of the Sanskrit word asana as “seat\, connection” – relationship to the Earth. Earth implies all of life.\n\n\nCiting Patanjali’s Yoga Sutra\, which states that asana should be sthira and sukham\, Jivamukti Yoga maintains that one’s relationship to others (asana) should be mutually beneficial and come from a consistent (sthira) place of joy and happiness (sukham). This is a radical idea that\, when put into practice\, can dismantle our present culture\, which is based on the notion that the Earth and all other animals exist for our benefit and to be exploited for our own selfish purposes. \nSo the practice of asana becomes more than mere physical exercise to keep one’s body fit or to increase strength or flexibility; it becomes a way to improve one’s relationship to all others and thus lead to enlightenment – the dissolution of the sense of separateness\, the realization of the oneness of being\, the discovery of lasting happiness. \n\nAbout the teacher: \nAndrea Everingham is an internationally renowned Yoga Teacher\, locally treasured in her home town of Manchester.\nShe brings 20 year+ experience and over 1000hrs training to the table\, but most importantly a warm\, loving and humble heart dedicated to sharing the transformative power of Yoga to all.  Andrea is delectably unique but most importantly she is real – a real woman with a real story. She pours her realness into each practice – from the dharma talk\, to the breath work\, to the movement and alignment\, all set to a playlist to get your soul dancing – by the time Svasana is reached it’s almost guaranteed something will have shifted within you.  By providing a fully integrated yoga experience on the mat\, she has built an intensely loyal following\, with practitioners flocking from all over to join the party!\n\nClasses are absolutely not limited to the experienced Yogi.  Andrea’s naturally approachable personality and caring delivery will take you to the edge of your ability.  Her sophisticated knowledge of the human body will keep you safe to explore.  And the sheer joy of her teaching will keep you coming back for more.\nThe style is totally Andrea’s\, with recognisable fusions of Jivamukti\, Yoga Therapy\, Yin and Somatic Movement amongst other elements.\nInvestment £30\n\n\nAdvance payment required to secure your spot\nPure Yoga Cheshire\nCo-operative Bank\nSort Code 089299\nAccount number 69775596

SUMMARY:PAST EVENT - Kundalini Yoga Workshop with Jenni Kaur
DESCRIPTION:Breaking The Mask: Detoxing The Body and Mind – Kundalini Yoga with Jenni\nSunday 16th of June 2019 – from 1 to 4 pm – £30\nJust as the seasons change\, our habits and routines changes.  Our behaviors are based on habits\, first we create a habit and then the habit creates us. \n“The mind has a capacity to act like a recorder. A habit enters the recorder and then begins\, automatically\, to play itself back in your behaviour\, feelings\, and thoughts. Layer after layer of habit forms in the subconscious mind of each person. Used with awareness\, habits help you act quickly\, and automate actions that require little change. Used without a relationship between you and the mind\, they steal your spontaneity\, uniqueness\, and projection. You have a choice: live in excellence and awareness or live subject to the stereotypes of your subconscious habits.” -Yogi Bhajan \nHow do we break the cycle of habitual thoughts\, emotions and behaviour? Kundalini Yoga! It is an amazing and effective way to help “rewire the brain” – to break demoting and habits and create new promoting habits!  \nJoin us for an uplifting\, fun and energising workshop where you will shed demoting habits and bring in life\, fun and playfulness using body movement\, mantra\, meditation and relaxation. \nSuitable for beginners. \nAdvance payment required to secure your spot.
