SUMMARY:Fine Tuning Alignment & Self Adjustment: Yoga Workshop with Joanna Walter
DESCRIPTION:Saturday 20th of August 2016\, from 13.00 to 16.00 – £25\nWhy bother learning to align the body in your yoga practice? On a very physical level it helps protect the bones\, joints\, muscles\, vessels\, tissue and organs of the body. Keeping them in a much better working order. But just as important although not so obvious is how important correct physical alignment is in regard to the flow of energy/Prana in the body. \nAccording to Yoga philosophy we humans are constructed a bit like an onion\, with layers\, five to be precise also known as sheaths or bodies and in Sanskrit they are called Kosha’s. Moving from gross to subtle they are: \nAnnamaya Kosha -The outer physical layer; Pranamaya Kosha – the energetic body; Manomaya Kosha the mental body; Vijnanamaya Kosha the intellectual body; and lastly Anandamaya Kosha the bliss body. At the centre of these lies the Self or Atman. \nThese layers can be described and experienced differently but they are inseparable and interconnected. What happens to one affects what happens to them all. So coming back to the alignment of the body\, we can start to understand what BKS Iyengar means in his quote from Light on life ” It is through the alignment of the body that I discovered the alignment of my mind\, self and intelligence ” \nWhen we go to a Yoga class our alignment gets adjusted by the teacher\, but what can we do when we are practising on our own ? During this workshop I will be teaching techniques on how to fine tune your alignment so you can have a better understanding of what correct alignment looks and feels like. I will also be giving techniques on how to adjust your own alignment using props. \nFor more information and bookings: contact Francesca at info@pureyogacheshire.co.uk of phone 07909 144 414 \nAbout Jo: \nJo has been practicing Yoga for 20 years\, starting with a 10 day Vipassana meditation in 1996 in Nepal. This was followed by a devoted Ashtanga Vinyasa practice which led to her 1st teacher training with Pattabhi Jois’s nephew Vishwanath in 2003\,  which was an amazing full time 3 month intensive in Bangalore – India. \nShe then had the great fortune to be part of the last full time 9 month teacher training with Louisa Sear’s Yoga Arts in Australia. During her 9 month training she met her teacher Clive Sheridan who’s experience and knowledge of Yoga is truly outstanding\, teaching his unique blend of Hatha Yoga\, Advaita Vedanta and Tantra. Jo has also been very lucky to be Clive’s assistant on several of his retreats. Also on the 9 month training she met Iyengar teacher’s Glen and Margaret Ceresoli who she has spent the last 6 years training with. \nShe has been teaching Yoga professionally since 2005.

Over the last 10 years\, her journey of yoga led her to discover her own resonant voice. Leading her first Kirtan had such a profound and transformative impact on her life that she chose to offer that same gift to others through Kirtan and voice workshops around the world. Narayani studied voice work with Chloe Goodchild and the Naked Voice and has learnt yoga and trained as a teacher in the lineage of Krishnamacharya  and the Sivananda Yoga Vedanta Centres. \nMat is a singer and multi-instrumentalist. He brings a gentle\, transformational quality with his soulful voice and powerful percussion and Bouzouki (Mandolin family) playing. SUMMARY:Yoga and Organ Meridians: a Workshop with Paula Charnley.
DESCRIPTION:Saturday 12th of March 2016\, 14:00-16:30 – £20\nIn this workshop we will explore yoga postures from the perspective of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM)\, particularly the 5 elements theory. As we instinctively strive to stay in balance\, internal or external circumstances can throw us off balance. \nThis interactive workshop offers a broader perspective to your yoga practice & general well being. By understanding the effect for example that grief\, anger or anxiety has on our physical body we may be able to direct more compassion there during our yoga practice encouraging the flow of qi (chi) or prana in order to restore balance. \nWe will explore some useful acupressure points with self massage and playfully create some additional postures along the way \nThis workshop is open to all levels of practitioner\, from beginners to advanced. \nMore about Paula:\nPaula Charnley was born in the Derbyshire Peak District. SUMMARY:Holding on to Let Go - a Yoga experience with Andrew Wrenn
DESCRIPTION:Sunday 8th of November from 5.30 to 7.30\nWhat\, in our practice and our lives\, do we need to hold on to and cultivate\, and what do we need to let go of? Andrew shares this workshop through his studies\, his insights and his daily practice. Experience the contentment\, clarity\, and peace which reside within each one of us and it’s available right here\, right now. SUMMARY:Yin Yoga & Live Music with Karen & Siward
DESCRIPTION:Sunday 6th of September 2015 – 17:30 to 19:30\n  \nJoin us for a deeply restorative Yin Yoga class with Karen accompanied by Siward on guitar\, flute and harmonium.\nEnjoy Yin poses infused with sound\, beautiful melodies\, and heart melting mantra and bhajans to enhance your yoga practice and open the body to deep healing. \nExperience  deep release and relaxation during this restorative yoga offering\, tailored to calm your mind\, and bring you into a deep meditative state. \nYin Yoga allows us to slow down and practice mainly sitting postures that gently work on the connective tissues of the hips\, thighs and lower spinal area.  These types of postures do not involve the muscles (as in traditional forms of yoga) but they act on the bone and joints areas of the body. Yin postures also act on the energy meridian of the body\, refreshing and toning up the digestive\, excretory\, circulatory and respiratory systems.Yin Yoga focuses on releasing and letting go aiding physical\, energetic\, mental and emotional flexibility. In this session we delve a little deeper as we let the power of live sounds penetrate within our Self with live music and Mantra. Do not miss this unique experience with Karen and Siward! \nRead more about Karen and Siward – Chalisa Yoga:\nMy yoga path as a practitioner and teacher has been inspired by a wide gamut of styles including Sivananda\, Scaraveli\, Viniyoga\, Qigong and Yin Yoga. Teaching yoga for nearly 10 years to a wide cross section of students from children to students in their 90’s\, my classes are a  mindful synthesis of both static and flowing postures and sequences that ultimately cultivate healing and deep body/breath awareness. \nMy passion is Yin Yoga\, a profound practice that emphasizes long-held but passive poses which enhance flexibility in the joints and instill lightness and grace in the body. \nMy partner Siward is a professional musician specialising in guitar\, harmonium and flute. Siward has travelled and studied extensively in India and was urged to follow this path with the inner guidance of his guru. We are both practicing Bhakti yogis. The synthesis of Yoga and Mantra opens the body to the breath of the heart and a deep awakening as the ancient sounds penetrate the hard to reach areas of the body namely those closest to the spine allowing us the opportunity for deep healing both physically and emotionally. \nCost: £20 \nFor more information and bookings please contact info@pureyogacheshire.co.uk or phone 07909144414 – Limited spaces so please book your spot as soon as you can.
